IAED Accepting Applications for Pathways to Manufacturing Work Program

ITHACA, N.Y., July 10, 2024 – Ithaca Area Economic Development (IAED) is accepting registrations for the Pathways to Manufacturing program starting July 29th at the TC3- Ithaca Extension Center, 118 N. Tioga Street in Ithaca.  Classes run Monday–Friday from 9:30a–3:30p- until August 30th. The deadline to register and attend an information session is Friday, July 15th.

The Pathways to Manufacturing program is a full-time, five-week training program designed to equip participants with the technical skills needed by area manufacturers. Upon completion, participants receive a one-time $1,000 stipend, a guaranteed interview with a participating manufacturer, and are eligible to take the Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) exam – a national credential.

Pathways to Manufacturing is a designated community-based pre-apprenticeship program through Tompkins Cortland Community College, part of the SUNY system. The program is a blend of classroom learning, hands-on experience using Virtual Reality, employer engagement, and team-building exercises. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques and spend an entire day with each participating manufacturer, meeting with several departments and Human Resources.
