The Nexamp solar array in Newfield is one of many solar projects in Tompkins County supported by the IDA’s community solar policy. Nexamp has contracted with a local company, Two Mothers Farm, that provides sheep to eat the grass around the solar panels. This is a greener and less expensive way of maintaining the 30 acres of solar panels. Not only is the project providing sustainable energy, it is also using sustainable methods of maintenance.
